Kickstarter or Indiegogo?

Its finally happening! But which one?

As we wind up to launch  Race Capture Pro, our Open Source Data Acquisition and Control System, I stand on top of over 2 years of work – Including noteworthy bits like piles of un-assembled, flawed boards representing 6 hardware revisions, thousands upon thousands of lines of firmware and software code, and valuable feedback from beta testers.

As we were filling out our Kickstarter application form we came across what seemed to be an updated list of Prohibited Items and found that ‘Automotive Products’ were among the list of many prohibited items. Aieeeee!! That was definitely a recent addition as we performed our due-diligence on Kickstarter not too long ago.

So what to do? We emailed [email protected] with a link to our in-progress application form and asked for clarification. Being that RaceCapture is essentially a data logger and not really an integral part of the car like a brake caliper, suspension arm or turbo, we’re hoping they’ll approve it with smiles and we’ll be on our way.

At the same time, we quickly received confirmation from Indiegogo that RaceCapture fits their terms and conditions and extended their invitation with open arms. If kickstarter is a no-go, Indiegogo it is. And this will be quite OK as Indiegogo’s prominence has been on a steep rise over the last few months! So, big kudos to them for being hungry and hustling.

As soon as we finalize our crowd funding platform, we’re launching this thing!

Stay tuned!
